Consumers continued to spend at a stronger-than-expected pace in August as lower gasoline prices helped spur spending in other areas pushing up retail sales by an unexpected 0.2 percent a government report showed on Thursday. (Kimberly White/Files/Reuters)Reuters - U.S. consumers spent at a stronger-than-expected pace in August and import prices rose steadily according to government reports on Thursday that hinted the economy may not be slowing quickly enough to curb inflation pressures.
